The deputy commander of U.S. Northern Command, General Joseph Gerard, said that the United States currently does not have the necessary readiness to defend its territory against a large-scale attack using drone swarms.

“ We don’t have the necessary sensors,” Gerard said and added that, depending on where the attack occurs, the United States may not only lack reconnaissance capabilities, but may also lack the systems needed to counter it.

“ At present, we do not have the readiness to respond to such an attack,” he said, noting that drone swarms are currently being used around the world and that the United States “has to find a way to reduce this threat, but we haven’t reached that stage yet.”
