Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s foreign minister, said in an interview with the Al Arabiya network that Egypt is one of the countries that has suffered the most damage from developments in the region since October 7. He added that the escalation of tensions in Iran has also affected this situation.
Abdelatty said the unstable situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea has “severe negative consequences” for Egypt and other countries in the region, and that everyone has been harmed by the current developments. He added that Cairo is trying, in cooperation with influential parties and mediators, to reduce tensions.
The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized that Cairo wants to stop the escalation of tensions and move forward with diplomatic solutions. He said: “Recent developments have shown that escalation of conflicts leads to instability, and military solutions also only increase economic losses and the suffering of the people of the region.”
