Emmanuel Macron said that the increase in fuel prices in France is not a government decision and is the result of “geopolitical conditions.”

The president of France said that the energy ministers of seven industrialized countries will gather in France in the coming weeks to exchange views on the energy crisis caused by the war between the United States and Iran.

He said that “releasing strategic reserves” will be among the topics of the meeting.

Macron also, in a post on X, emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab-el-Mandeb, and the Red Sea, and wrote that a naval blockade has affected French people’s lives and that they feel it at the gas pumps, and that fuel prices have become “unbearable.”

Meanwhile, attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz continue to be reported, and according to shipping-tracking company data, traffic there yesterday hit its lowest level.
