🔶 Germany’s border controls will be extended again for six months
Border checks in Germany’s external borders are set to be extended for another six-month period, until mid-March 2027. A spokesperson for Germany’s Ministry of the Interior confirmed that Alexander Dobrindt has formally notified this request to the European Commission. The newspaper “Bild” had reported the news earlier.
Germany’s interior minister told the newspaper: “Developments at Europe’s external borders show that we still need border controls to tackle illegal migration.”
This politician from the Christian Social Union party had announced the measure previously at the end of July, when tens of thousands of migrants entered Spain’s North African autonomous enclave of Ceuta from Morocco for a time. Almost all of them later returned to Morocco.
