🔶 Ghareebabadi: We reached an understanding with Oman regarding passage through the Strait of Hormuz

Kazem Ghareebabadi, legal and international affairs deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, announced on Saturday evening, 7 Shahrivar (29 August), that “Iran and Oman have reached an understanding regarding the arrangements for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, but this agreement will not be implemented automatically.”

According to Ghareebabadi, the United States must first carry out its commitments, and then Iran will implement the necessary actions.

He added that the Islamic Republic “is in no rush” to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and will continue “defensive actions and countering threats.”

Ghareebabadi claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is still closed, and that any vessel passing through this route will be done only with coordination and authorization from Iran.

The deputy foreign minister also claimed that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic “have full awareness of activities in the Strait of Hormuz,” and that Tehran does not confirm related claims about the passage of ships without coordination.
