Hamas, after the leaders of the group met with Jared Kushner, the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, called on the mediating countries and the Peace Council to pressure Israel to implement the commitments of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and to approve the roadmap for the second phase of the agreement.
In a statement released on Sunday, 25 Mordad, Hamas said that Israel must stop what it called attacks and “violations of the agreement.” The request came after talks in Cairo—negotiations held with the aim of advancing the U.S. peace plan and moving the agreement to the next stage.
At the meeting, Kushner asked Hamas to turn its commitment to disarmament into specific, verifiable actions. Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, attended the talks together with representatives from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the Peace Council.
Kushner is scheduled to meet on Monday, 26 Mordad with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel. The discussions are expected to focus on halting attacks, increasing humanitarian aid, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and setting mutual, verifiable steps for implementing the second phase of the agreement.
