Hossein Taib is gradually returning to the sphere of power; the same person who was a Basij commander during the 2009 protests and after that held the 13-year leadership of the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC; an institution that became one of the main security and suppression arms of the Islamic Republic. Taib was removed from his position as head of IRGC Intelligence in 1401 (2022-23), but he was never truly eliminated from the power structure and power circles. Now, his gradual return matters; especially when, at the same time, other old cards are being placed again. In the Islamic Republic, people are not necessarily removed; sometimes they are only kept away from the center of the circle for a while, so that in a new exchange, they can return again.
