In a shooting by unidentified armed men at a support vehicle in the Kourin area, in Zahedan County, Abolfazl Oudi and Kiavan Remoroodi, two forces of the “Martyr Mirsahini Operational Command,” were killed.
Ali Khalilabadhi, the security and law enforcement deputy of the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, told IRNA that the attackers targeted a vehicle carrying support equipment and food for local Basij members.
The Baluchistan Human Rights Documents Network reported that the two men were traveling in a unplated vehicle on the Dehak-to-Kourin route when they were targeted by gunfire. The Halvash website also identified them as security forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and wrote that the Martyr Mirsahini Command is among units affiliated with the Ground Forces of the IRGC.
Islamic Republic officials have called the shooting a “terrorist” attack. So far, the identity and motive of the attackers have not been determined, and no person or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
