Since March, Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has declared the Strait of Hormuz “open” at least four times, but each time, within a few days, clashes or the blockage of this international waterway have resumed.

Now, after several rounds of back-and-forth, it appears that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

A source familiar with and close to the Iran–Oman negotiations told Al-Arabiya that, based on the agreement, which will be officially announced in the coming days, incoming ships to the Strait of Hormuz will pass through shipping lanes closer to Iran’s coasts, and outbound ships from the Strait of Hormuz will use shipping lanes closer to Oman’s coasts.
