🔻Iranian army spokesperson called the attack on the US base in Jordan part of Iran’s shift in military doctrine to a “offensive” posture
Mohammad Akraminia, spokesperson for the Iranian army, said in explaining the movement of his country’s military doctrine “from a defensive mode toward an offensive” one, that this approach in the recent war was reflected in “rapid and widespread response” and “preemptive operations.”
In an interview with IRNA, Mohammad Akraminia said, “In this war, at a certain point in the attack on the US base in Jordan, in fact, we demonstrated a preemptive approach and targeted the enemy’s base in the country of Jordan before the enemy entered a war.”
In July this year, three American servicemen were killed on July 17 in Iran’s ballistic and drone missile attacks on that country’s base in Jordan.
Continuing in the course of the interview, the army spokesperson said, “This is one aspect of the concept of the offensive military doctrine, but it has other dimensions as well, including that any act of aggression will definitely be answered immediately, and the response can definitely be broader than the act of aggression.”
For the first time, Ali Abdollahi, then commander of the Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbia, had said that the doctrine of the armed forces “has changed from defensive to offensive.” But in recent days, Iranian military officials had again emphasized this shift in approach.
