🔻Iranian media say the U.S. has not granted visas to President Pezeshkian’s delegation, including his comms team

🔻Iranian state media reported on Monday that the United States has refused to issue visas for members of Masoud Pezeshkian’s delegation—President of Iran—and including members of his communications team, for a trip this week to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The state news agency IRNA wrote: “In the most unprecedented hostile action by the American government, the U.S. has not issued visas for some members of the senior Iranian delegation, including members of the president’s media team, to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.”

Tasnim news agency also published the report, citing the spokesman for Iran’s president’s office, and added that Masoud Pezeshkian will give a speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.

Ismail Baqaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also accused President Trump’s government of “violating the right to access information,” and referred to the White House’s recent action of preventing three American media outlets from entering the White House due to their اعتراض to how they had covered the news.

On the X platform, he wrote: “When a ruling group even prevents U.S. media itself from accessing information, and at the same time blocks the way for foreign journalists—including the media team of the president of Iran—who does not want their voices to be heard, this is not access management; it means an attempt to hide the truth and continue a campaign of false, fake information by violating the right to access information.”

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, also traveled to New York yesterday evening. He was scheduled to make a stop in Doha, Qatar, before going to the United States. Qatar has been among the mediators between Iran and the United States.
