"Ismail Baghaei," the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, has tied the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to the cessation of what he called "illegal actions by the United States." He also said that "lifting the maritime blockade" and "compensating for damages inflicted on Iran" were other conditions of the Islamic Republic for opening this vital waterway.

Baghaei, at a press conference on Monday, 19 Mordad 1405, said: "The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has been the result of U.S. and Israeli attacks and the use of regional bases against Iran."
