Ismail Baqaii, spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that Austria’s chargé d’affaires has been summoned following the failure to issue a permit for Mohammad Eslami, head of the Islamic Republic’s Atomic Energy Organization, to enter the country.

At the same time, Bloomberg, citing an American official, reported that Austria rejected Eslami’s request for a waiver from the travel ban after U.S. opposition and pressure.

Eslami was due to deliver a speech at the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna on Monday.
