Israel’s army, in a statement, announced that it targeted “Tariq Anwar Khamis Ra’i,” one of the commanders of Islamic Jihad.

The Israeli army believes that he took part in the October 7 attack on “Be’eri kibbutz” and the kidnapping of an Israeli citizen.

The operation took place on Sunday, 25 Mordad, in the Khan Younis area, during which Khamis Ra’i, the commander of a company in the Islamic Jihad’s logistics system, was killed.

The Israeli army said this leader has also played a role in advancing “terrorist” plans against Israeli army forces and citizens of this country in the recent period, and was targeted to remove this threat.

The United States, Israel and the United Kingdom, along with some other countries, have designated Islamic Jihad as a terrorist organization.

The European Union has also placed the organization’s military wing on its list of terrorist groups.
