The Israeli army spokesperson announced that the day before, on Sunday, the chief of the general staff held a surprise multi-front drill in order to assess the ability to respond to an unexpected event.
According to this statement, during the exercise all forces were suddenly put on standby, and various scenarios—including infiltration from land, air and sea, rocket and missile attacks, armed attacks, numerous casualty incidents, assault and hostage-taking, and other scenarios that test defensive readiness and the implementation of defense directives—were practiced.
The Israeli army said the results of the exercise were reviewed to identify strengths and weaknesses and to improve its preparedness and defensive capability for different scenarios.
