Israeli security institutions have examined the possibility of the army withdrawing from several points in the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Saturday evening that these positions are set to be handed over to a multinational force, although Hamas is still far from disarmament.

Israeli leaders have repeatedly said the army will not move back from the “yellow line” until Hamas is disarmed.

Channel 12 added that the precise definition of “disarmament” has not yet been clarified, while the United States has increased its pressure to reduce Israel’s military presence in Gaza.

Since the ceasefire, Israeli forces have expanded their presence to about 70 percent of Gaza’s territory.

Last week, Hamas for the first time committed to an “operational plan” for the handover of its weapons, and the mediators Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United States called it a major breakthrough.
