🔻Leandro Paredes, Argentina national team midfielder, has been hit with a 10-match ban by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee due to the role he played in the incidents following Argentina’s one-goal defeat of Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.
🔹Also, Nahuel Molina, another Argentina player, was banned for seven matches for his role in these incidents. FIFA has also ordered Argentina to hold two home matches with 50% capacity, with the execution of one of these two matches currently suspended.
🔹The Argentine Football Federation (AFA) was also fined $321,000 for several violations, including using a sports event for non-sporting purposes, improper conduct by the team, and fans chanting slogans and performing discriminatory gestures.
🔹The case is not limited to incidents in the final. After Argentina’s victory over England in the semi-final, several players of this team also displayed a banner in support of Argentina’s claim of sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.
