Masoud Pezeshkian, head of the government of the Islamic Republic, said on Sunday, 22 Shahrivar: “We pray that God will help thwart the evil intentions that the United States is pursuing in the region and the world, and that this country will not be able, through acts of power against different nations, to achieve its colonial and exploitative aims.”
Pezeshkian said this after the end of the BRICS leaders’ meeting in New Delhi, adding: “We hope that, with the path that BRICS countries have taken, many of the problems that the United States has created in the region through bullying and seeks to impose through pressure will be resolved.”
He said that multilateralism was the main focus of the BRICS discussions, and that the participating countries wanted to move toward a multipolar world and increase economic and trade cooperation. Opposition to unilateral sanctions and expanding trade using national currencies were among the other issues raised at the meeting.
Pezeshkian also said that other countries participating in the meeting had similar views, but may not state these positions with the same candor in written documents due to concerns about harm to their economies.
