“Melika Emtzadeh,” a 13-year-old girl from Desak village in Nikshahr County, died in Nikshahr hospital after being stung by a scorpion and, as her father said, in a situation where the facilities and medicines needed for her treatment were not available.

According to a report by Iranian media, “Saeed Emtzadeh,” Melika’s father, said his daughter noticed a sting from a creature on her body at her aunt’s house on the morning of the incident. The family initially could not determine what had stung her. The comprehensive health center in the village where they live was also closed due to the absence of a doctor, and the family were forced to transfer Melika to the Benet ward, 20 kilometers from their place of residence.
