🔶"Mohammad-Baqer Kharazi was detained on charges of acting against national security"
Some Iranian media outlets have reported the detention of Mohammad-Baqer Kharazi on charges of “acting against national security”.
Most of these media outlets published their report citing Rahmatollah Bigdeli, a cleric and reformist political activist.
Bigdeli wrote on X that this controversial cleric “has been in detention for six days by an order from the Special Court of Clerics of Qom.”
Kharazi recently reported on a street mobilization to Tehran and a planned riot with the intention of toppling the Pezeshkian government, and had said: “We will ruin the Pezeshkian government!”
He had pointed to disagreements at the top of the Islamic Republic’s ruling system and had also mentioned certain reshuffles and new appointments, including in Iran’s Supreme National Security Council—matters that were carried out in practice.
After Kharazi’s controversial remarks were published, the judiciary’s spokesperson announced that, considering his clerical status, the investigation into the charges raised falls within the jurisdiction of the Special Court for Clerics.
However, as of this moment, the detention of Mohammad-Baqer Kharazi has not been officially confirmed by the judiciary.
