Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Parliament, said in an online session of parliament that the time has come for the “military arena” to stand alongside the “diplomatic arena,” and, according to him, a practical response should be given to the “enemy’s breach of commitment.”
Qalibaf emphasized that as long as the United States’ commitments in the understandings—including lifting the blockade, freeing the assets that have been frozen, lifting oil-related sanctions, and ending threats and military operations across all fronts—are not implemented, “the Strait will not be reopened.”
He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to impose “a heavier defeat than before” on this country in proportion to the United States’ actions.
