Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic, announced that Iran, after the request of intermediaries, is preparing a list of its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that “the end of the regional war” is among the most important of these conditions.

Rezaei, in an interview with Al-Manar TV, said that Tehran and Muscat have reached an agreement regarding the creation of a shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz—an route part of which would be in Omani waters and the other part in Iranian waters. According to him, if the United States meets Iran’s conditions, ships can “pass through a specified central channel.”

Meanwhile, an informed source indicated that the details of the agreement between Iran and Oman are still under review. The spokesperson of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had previously stressed that reopening the Strait of Hormuz would be contingent on the lifting of “the blockade of Iran’s ports by Washington, payment of compensation, and the lifting of sanctions.”
