🔸A powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 struck parts of Colombia on Monday afternoon, 19 Mordad, and caused buildings to collapse.

🔸In Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, people evacuated buildings after the earthquake, and images released from different areas of the country show buildings collapsing.

🔸In La Espriella, the president of Colombia announced on Monday that initial reports indicate 111 deaths, along with dozens of collapsed buildings and damaged homes.

🔸He also said, in remarks delivered in a speech published by the mayor’s office in Cali, that as a result of the earthquake at least 188 people in Valle del Cauca province are missing and 700 people were injured.

🔸As a result of the earthquake, operations at six airports in western Colombia, including the cities of Pereira and Manizales, were suspended.

🔸The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 107 kilometers.

🔸The quake, which was the strongest earthquake in this country in recent history, was also felt in Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela.
