Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, at a weekly press conference on Tuesday, said: “What we are seeking is to reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and a ceasefire, simultaneously.”

Majed Al Ansari said that an agreement between Tehran and Muscat over the Strait of Hormuz will make it easier to resume negotiations to end the war in the Middle East.

He added: “We are also awaiting an agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran concerning the strait that will allow us to return to the negotiation framework.”

Al Ansari said: “The only way forward is a ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, return to freedom of navigation, and return to the negotiating table.” According to him, Doha’s current efforts are focused on reducing tensions, bringing Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, and implementing in full the agreed ceasefire plan.
