🔻Reuters: Houthi attacks on Thursday with missiles and drones “killed at least 58 people” from government forces

A military source told Reuters that Yemen’s Houthis on Thursday killed at least 58 government forces in missile and drone attacks; attacks that are considered one of the deadliest days of the country’s civil war in the past four years.

The attacks come as Yemen has increasingly been drawn into the U.S. war with Iran, and the Houthis have stepped up their attacks against Yemen’s government forces as well as Saudi Arabia.

Yahya al-Sari‘, the Houthis’ military spokesman, said that in response to what he called a military arrangement with Saudi support, the group targeted government positions with ballistic missiles and drones.

According to a military source who asked not to be named, at least 58 government forces were killed and dozens of others were injured in these attacks.

The Ministry of Defense of Yemen’s Presidential Council, based in the southern port city of Aden, said in a statement that the country’s armed forces will respond to these attacks “at a suitable time and place.”
