In a Russian drone attack on the Bucha area near Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, at least 37 people were killed. Tymur Tkachенко, the governor of the region, said in a Telegram message that another 42 people were also injured.

According to the report, the number of victims may still rise. More than 400 people from the affected Bucha district have been transferred to safe locations. Based on the published information, more than 300 rescue forces were also present in the rescue operations.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, wrote on Telegram: “Significant damage was done to infrastructure around the area; residential houses, as well as a care center for the elderly and people with disabilities, were damaged.”

According to reports, Taras Dydych, the head of the Dmytrivka city council, who had immediately gone to the scene, is among those killed. Videos released on social media show fires and explosions during sunset.

According to Ukrainian officials, the drone attack took place on Friday evening, August 28 (September 6) in the village of Mila in the Bucha region. Following it, a fire broke out and several explosions occurred. Russia says the target of the attack was an important ammunition depot.

After this attack, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office opened investigations on suspicion of the unlawful possession of explosives in the compound. It is also expected to be determined whether the company accused of unlawfully possessing explosives had all of the “necessary permits.”

Zelensky did not provide details, but wrote: “There are regulations: ammunition must not be stored near houses and other residential buildings.” He referred to the criminal cases filed in this regard.

Based on information released, as a result of the attack, the main communication route from Kyiv to the west, in an area spanning several kilometers, was completely blocked to carry out firefighting and rescue operations.

In Russian night attacks on the Odesa region in southern Ukraine, one person also died. Oleh Kiper, the governor of the region, said on Telegram that three other people were injured.

During these attacks, five trucks carrying grain burned, and three other trucks were damaged. According to this report, all fires were contained.
