Majlis Energy Commission spokesperson attributed long gasoline lines to increased travel; «Continuing to draw from reserves»

🔸The spokesperson for the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly attributed long lines in front of some gasoline stations to increased public travel and the “false concern” caused by the activities of media outlets outside the country, while also saying that reserves in the country are being drawn on to make up for the gasoline imbalance.

🔸Reza Sepahvand, on Saturday, the seventh of Shahrivar, in an interview with the Mizan news agency, said that daily gasoline production in the country has reached about 132 million liters, and considering “a few million liters” of imports, the total of production and imports is more than 135 million liters per day.

🔸According to him, daily consumption is currently more than 137 million liters and, as the final days of Shahrivar approach, it will also exceed 140 million liters.

🔸The figure of 132 million liters announced by Sepahvand is significantly higher than previous official figures about gasoline production this year. Based on the figures released, the average daily production in the first four months of this year, including refinery output and blending gasoline, is about 115 million liters, and in Tir month it was reported at about 121 million liters.

🔸Despite the fact that, even according to these numbers, current consumption is more than the combined total of production and imports, the Majlis Energy Commission spokesperson stressed that “there is no problem with supplying gasoline to the country.”

🔸The spokesperson for the Majlis Energy Commission also said in his remarks that to make up for the imbalance, “we are using our gasoline reserves,” and added that drawing from reserves in previous years was also done to get through the high-consumption days of Shahrivar.

🔸This description of the status of reserves differs significantly from remarks made a few days ago by the deputy of the Organization for Optimization and Strategic Energy Management.
