🔶 Saudi Arabia announces it intercepted six Houthi ballistic missiles

The Saudi military spokesman announced that six ballistic missiles that had targeted the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast and the city of Taif in the southwest of the country were intercepted.

The Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by the Islamic Republic, had not taken responsibility for these attacks as of the time this report was prepared, but in recent days the group has been described as being responsible for attempts to carry out attacks against Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, the country’s capital.

In a report, the Associated Press said that so far it has been unable to independently confirm the claims of Lt. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthis.

The remarks by this Saudi official were published after warnings issued by Saudi civil defense officials indicated that the danger had eased. On Thursday, September 24 (October 2), the Saudi Civil Defense Authority issued several warnings, one of which related to Mecca. In its statement, the organization also issued warnings of danger for Jeddah and Tabuk.
