Saudi Arabia confirmed that the Houthis in Yemen tried to target the country’s capital with a ballistic missile.

Turkey Al-Maliki, a spokesperson for the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, wrote on X that Saudi Arabia’s air force “successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile that the terrorist Houthi militias fired at dawn Saturday toward the city of Riyadh.”

This is the first attack on Riyadh since the escalation of fighting with the Houthis. The coalition statement was released hours after the morning attack.

Al-Maliki added that the Houthis also attempted to target civilians and civilian infrastructure in Dhiba, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, but the attacks were thwarted.
