🔻Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Washington welcomes approval to sell F-35 fighter jets

The Saudi Arabian embassy in the United States announced that a possible sale of 48 “F-35 Lightning 2” fighter jets to the country demonstrates progress in defense cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States and strengthens their strategic partnership.

The deal, estimated to be worth about $24.3 billion, has received approval from the U.S. Department of State.

According to the ministry, the purpose of the sale is to enhance the security of “one of the main non-NATO allies, which is considered a force for political stability and economic progress in the Persian Gulf region.”

In a post on the X social media platform, the Saudi embassy wrote: “Security cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States over decades has helped keep the region stable, strengthened our joint defense capabilities, and advanced our shared security interests.”
