🔻Spanish police begin operation to transfer thousands of migrants to a new camp in Ceuta.

But during the transfer to a camp with a capacity of 1,700 people, the population surged, passed through police lines, and they resorted to gunfire into the air.

In videos released of clashes between police and migrants, the sound of shots can be heard.

More than 72,000 migrants who crossed the border from Morocco in July and entered Spanish territory have been sent back, but it is believed that more than 13,000 of them are still in this port in North Africa.

According to Spain’s state news agency, the police operation began on Friday, September 18 at 7 a.m. local time, and to date more than three thousand migrants have been transferred.

The Spain agency reported that more than 170 police officers, including drone-navigation specialists, were deployed on site, the situation was “rapidly brought under control,” and the operation continued.

The operation is part of the government’s efforts to concentrate migrants in facilities where their situation can be identified and addressed.

Migrants’ rush toward Spain’s borders has placed border security for the European Union and migration control at the center of attention.
