🔻The Athletic reports that the nonprofit organization and advocacy group ‘Foursquare’, in a letter to FIFA’s Governance, Audit, and Compliance Committee, has asked the body to declare Gianni Infantino unqualified to run for another term in next year’s FIFA presidential election.
🔹The organization says it operates to promote “better and more democratic governance with the aim of preventing sports institutions from playing a role in creating harm and suffering.”
🔹Having become one of the most prominent pressure groups against Infantino’s FIFA presidency, the group previously submitted an eight-page complaint to FIFA’s Ethics Committee in December 2025, in which it accused Infantino, FIFA’s president, of “repeatedly violating” the mandate of the institution to uphold political neutrality.
🔹Foursquare also called for an investigation into the process that led to the awarding of the first “FIFA Peace Prize” to Donald Trump, the U.S. president.
🔹Since then, Infantino’s presidency has faced controversies and scandals, including the case involving the suspension of Farrahine Balogun, a striker for the U.S. national team, and then a covert plan to sell the World Cup.
