The Jerusalem Post reported that Abbas Araqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, for the period of his stay in New York asked the U.S. government for a security team and this request was met with approval from the United States.

According to a document from the U.S. State Department that The Jerusalem Post saw on Tuesday, the State Department’s diplomatic security service will be responsible for providing protection for Araqchi during his stay in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

The document is addressed to the mission of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations and refers to the diplomatic note dated Shahrivar 26 by the mission. According to this document, the diplomatic security service reviewed and analyzed the threats facing Araqchi.
