Donyaye Eqtesad newspaper, in a report, wrote that the worsening gas imbalance in the second half of this year has put Iran’s energy-intensive industries on the brink of a difficult winter.

According to this newspaper, the growth in consumption, reduced investment in developing fields, the deterioration of infrastructure, limitations in storage, and damage to part of gas facilities have deepened the supply-demand gap.

Experts warn that if cold weather intensifies or if it is not possible to make up for the shortfall, restrictions on feedstock and fuel, a drop in production, reduced exports, and pressure on employment and investment will increase.

They warn that limitations on gas for power plants could also intensify the shortage of electricity for industries.

Based on estimates by the Supreme Council of Energy, if the current trend continues, the gas imbalance will reach, at best, 500 million cubic meters per day by 1420 AH, and in the worst scenario, more than 700 million cubic meters per day.
