🔶 The next round of Israel-Lebanon talks will be held “in early September”

The newspaper “Times of Israel,” citing an informed source, reported that the next round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon with U.S. mediation will be held in early September. The source admitted that the seventh round of talks between the two countries that took place last week in Rome was not very successful because Beirut is seeking further Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon, while Israel insists that first the process of verifying the full disarmament of Hezbollah must be carried out.

The informed source told Times of Israel that in the weeks leading up to the next round of negotiations, the United States pressured the parties to reach an agreement on the list of countries that would participate in the verification mechanism. Israel opposes the presence of countries that have taken positions against it in international forums.

The source also added that alongside these negotiations, Lebanon and Israel are holding separate talks about identifying and returning the remains of Lebanese and Israeli Jewish bodies in exchange for Lebanese prisoners.
