🔶 Germany’s Foreign Ministry: Trump’s peace plan is an opportunity to disarm Hamas
According to a spokesperson for Germany’s Foreign Ministry, the country considers the latest plan by Donald Trump, the U.S. president, to establish peace in Gaza an opportunity to make progress toward the disarmament of Hamas.
As reported by Reuters, on Monday, August 10, at a press conference, when asked about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of the plan, he said that the existence of some differences was something to be expected.
The spokesperson for Germany’s Foreign Ministry made clear: “In such a complex initiative, it was completely clear that there would be a great many unanswered questions.”
Benjamin Netanyahu has explicitly rejected Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza and said that until Hamas is completely disarmed, his country’s army will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
Donald Trump had announced last month that Hamas had agreed to the plan, under which Hamas would be disarmed in exchange for Israel’s exit from the Gaza Strip.
The office of the Israeli prime minister had previously raised reservations about the plan, but had not explicitly rejected it.
