The official Yemeni government’s armed forces announced that the Houthi forces supported by the Islamic Republic attacked the vital port of Al-Mokha on the Red Sea coast, killing at least one person.

Majed Al-Nasili, the spokesperson of the Yemeni army, said in a statement that the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles at this port in “a fresh terrorist incursion that targeted a vital civilian facility.” According to him, the attack left eight people injured and two naval guards missing.

The port of Al-Mokha is under the control of Yemen’s legitimate government.

This is the latest attack by the Houthis on areas under the control of the official Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia, and is part of an escalation that threatens Yemen’s return to full-scale fighting. A 2022 ceasefire ended the heavy battles of the country’s civil war.
