The White House on Monday launched the “Trump TV” live-streaming platform on YouTube; the network is set to broadcast around the clock and begin its work by replaying a speech by Donald Trump at the ceremony marking the 251st anniversary of the United States.

The move came after the White House banned the presence of CNN, MSNBC, and Politico journalists in the White House and following the refusal of five major television networks to replace CNN in the shared visual coverage of presidential events.

ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC, in a joint statement, said that no government should restrict a media outlet because of how it covers news.

In response, the White House said that access to the pool of reporters is a privilege and that the president is not required to host media outlets whose approach he considers hostile.

Trump also accused the critical media of publishing false information on social media and said the goal of “Trump TV” is to establish direct communication with the people and bypass the media outlets that he calls “fake news.”
