Trump: It’s time for me to decide whether to destroy the Iranian government or not

🔸 U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday, 26 Shahrivar, that he has come close to a sensitive point in the war with Iran, where he must decide whether the United States should resume broad attacks against Iran.

🔸 Trump told the Axios news outlet in this regard: “Soon I have to make a big decision. Do I want to act and destroy them [the Iranian regime] or not? It’s a big decision. Whatever happens, it could happen on my part.”

🔸 This position was announced ahead of his scheduled meeting next Tuesday with the leaders of six Gulf-border countries in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.

🔸 According to Axios, Trump’s meeting with the Arab heads of state could influence the next phase of the war; including whether a fresh attempt at diplomacy will be made or military actions will be escalated.

🔸 Trump also told Axios that he intends to use the opportunity of meeting regional leaders at the United Nations to hear directly their views about the next steps in the war.

🔸 He said: “I want to know what condition they’re in and how they are. We’ve provided a lot of support and protection for them.”

🔸 According to Axios, the countries participating in this meeting will include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.

🔸 Trump told Axios that he is “very” satisfied that a maritime blockade has prevented Iran’s oil exports.

🔸 He explained: “Since we started, not a single ship has gone to Iran. They tried and we blew them up.”

🔸 The U.S. president had reported hours earlier that Iran has contacted his administration directly and is “very” eager for an agreement with the United States, and he expressed hope that the Iran war is nearing an end.

🔸 This comes as the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council had said two days earlier that there will be no negotiation with the United States as long as Iran’s conditions are not met.
