🔻Turkey said it will review Saudi Arabia’s military needs within the framework of a defense pact

Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s foreign minister, said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia may need military assistance due to the ongoing attacks by Yemen’s Houthis, and that Turkey will review these needs within the framework of the defense pact of Mecca.

The tripartite defense pact between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan was signed in August this year, and under it, an armed attack on one of the three countries is considered an attack on all members.

Mr. Fidan, in an interview with the TV network “NTV,” said that it is unacceptable for Saudi Arabia to be drawn into the war between the United States and Iran, because the country has no desire to enter that conflict.

He also, without providing further details, added that proposals for ending the fighting have been put forward to all parties.
