🔻U.S. ambassador to the UN: Civilian deaths from the war in Iran were “unintentional”

Michael Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, says that the civilian deaths resulting from the war between the United States and Israel with Iran were “unintentional and accidental.”

Mr. Waltz also said that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, would object to investigations by the UN at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

In its investigations, the United Nations has said that the United States may have committed war crimes during two attacks on Iran at the beginning of the war in February.

In an interview with the New York Post, U.S. ambassador to the UN Waltz said: “Even in cases where we see civilian casualties—and I’m not saying that this happened here, because I think the issue is still being looked into by the Pentagon—if such casualties were to occur, it would be unintentional and accidental, and part of the nature of the conflict. In contrast to the actions of the Iranian regime, which shot 40,000 of its own people in three or four days.”

A fact-finding panel, in a report submitted to the UN Human Rights Council, said that the United States attacked a school and a sports complex in Iran unlawfully and caused the deaths of more than 120 children.
