🔶 The U.S. Department of Justice calls the threat against Air Force One “an attempt to assassinate”
According to The Hill, in a new judicial filing, the U.S. Department of Justice described a missile threat attributed to the Islamic Republic that last month caused U.S. President Donald Trump to covertly change his aircraft as “an attempt to assassinate.”
The filing states that John Sauer, U.S. solicitor general, referred to the incident in an emergency request to the Supreme Court on Friday, August 14 (23 Mordad).
The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to overturn a lower court ruling that has prevented the continuation of construction of a new ceremony hall at the White House.
In his argument, Sauer said that recent threats to national security show that this project must proceed without delay, because the hall is set to include an underground military complex as well as a location for the placement or support of drones.
In the text of his request, he wrote: “President Trump is the target of an increasing number of recent efforts to assassinate.”
