🔻UK Foreign Office condemns Houthi attacks

The UK Foreign Office, in a statement, condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia./

The statement said: “The UK strongly condemns the Houthis’ decision to resume fighting in Yemen and their recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, including targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities.”

The ministry expressed sympathy to the injured and those affected by these events, and emphasized that “together with Saudi Arabia, it will stand by the lawful and official government of Yemen and its regional partners.”

Earlier, Agence France-Presse, citing a military source, reported that the Houthis captured the island of “Zaqr” in the south of the Red Sea following “rocket attacks and a ground offensive using boats carrying armed forces.”

According to reports, the Houthi forces also entered the port city of “Mocha” while chanting “Death to America, Death to Israel,” and took control of it.

Fighting between the Houthi rebels in Yemen and Saudi Arabia has increased in recent weeks.

Today, the Houthis reported about 40 airstrikes by Saudi forces.

Saba News Agency, affiliated with the Houthis, announced: “The Saudi enemy’s air force, over the past hours, carried out about 40 airstrikes in the provinces of Taiz, Hodeidah, Al-Jawf, and Marib.”

Based on reports by news agencies, fighting in Yemen has left at least 500 people dead since last week, most of them armed forces. The International Organization for Migration also said that nearly 20,000 people have been forced to leave their homes.
