The foreign minister of Ukraine reported on a meeting with the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Andrii Sybikha said in a post on the social media platform X that the meeting with Abbas Araqchi took place as a continuation of the telephone conversation between the two sides in July.

According to him, the two sides discussed reciprocal steps to prevent further escalation of tensions between Ukraine and the Islamic Republic and agreed to keep existing communication channels open.

Sybikha also said that the meeting included discussions about developments in the Middle East and Europe, as well as various paths for ongoing efforts to establish peace.

The Ukrainian foreign minister emphasized that Kyiv supports “faster restoration of peace and stability” in both regions.
