The spokesperson for the UN secretary-general said that Israeli airstrikes on the Abu Zhoor military airport in northwestern Syria are “another very worrying” violation of the country’s territorial integrity and airspace.
Stephane Dujarric, on Tuesday, at a UN press briefing, said: “These airstrikes must stop, and we will stand up against them.”
The remarks were made after Syria, in letters to the UN secretary-general and the president of the Security Council, condemned these airstrikes.
Antonio Guterres, the UN secretary-general, wrote in July during his trip to Syria: “Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity must be fully respected. Israel’s violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement is unacceptable and must be stopped.”
