A deputy at the US Department of Defense asked major arms companies in the country to accelerate the production and delivery of key systems.

Steve Feinberg wrote in a letter dated 14 Mordad: “Multi-year development cycles are not acceptable. We must urgently speed up program schedules right now and expand production capacity.”

Bloomberg has seen the letter, which was sent to companies including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and RTX.

In his letter, Feinberg focused on needs beyond a war with the Islamic Republic, which include satellite communications and next-generation air defense systems.

Another priority is Lockheed Martin’s “next-generation interceptor.” This system is a program aimed at defending the United States against intercontinental ballistic missiles.
