🔻Velayati called Yemen the “southern pillar of the Resistance front” and urged Saudi Arabia not to put “pressure” on the Houthis

The adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran for international affairs said that Yemen is the “southern pillar of the Resistance front” and asked Saudi Arabia not to put “pressure” on the Houthis.

Ali Akbar Velayati told Saudi officials: “Instead of continuing pressure on Yemen, defend Palestine and the sacred cause, and take a stance against the costly and unwise policies of the United States.”

Mr. Velayati said that harming Yemen’s Ansarollah, or the Houthis, “is harm to the Islamic ummah.”

According to reports, the Houthis in Yemen have, in recent weeks, resumed some military attacks inside Yemen and also against ships in the Red Sea.

A multi-year ceasefire in Yemen’s internal war between the Houthis and the internationally recognized Yemeni government recently collapsed, at the same time as tensions and fighting have escalated between Iran and the United States.
