A White House spokesperson rejected a recent Washington Post report, in which it was claimed that at a Camp David meeting, U.S. President asked the defense secretary to explain a severe ammunition shortage, and called it “fake news.”

Caroline Leavitt wrote on the social media platform X: “I was in Camp David with President Trump and the Secretary of Defense. This story literally never happened, and we told the Washington Post this repeatedly.”

She added: “This nonsense was offered to many media outlets by someone who, for whatever reason, clearly intended to discredit the defense secretary. Unfortunately for them, the president has confidence in the defense secretary and believes he is doing an outstanding job.”

Washington Post, citing two knowledgeable sources, had claimed that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, had “apparently been given misinformation about a severe ammunition shortage that has now limited the military options available to the United States against the Islamic Republic.”
