❌ Yemen’s coast guard said on Tuesday, 20 Mordad, that the number of people killed in the incident involving the commercial vessel “Tihamah” has increased to 6. It also said that 11 crew members of this ship—who, in the early hours of Tuesday, while passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, were targeted by the Houthis with 3 ballistic missiles—were rescued.
The Yemeni Ministry of Transport had previously said in a statement that the Houthi attack on this ship, which was carrying food supplies, caused a fire on board and killed several crew members. Three of the dead were Pakistani and one was an Indonesian seafarer. In addition, four others were injured, and one of the members of the rescue and response team was also injured. The attack also caused material damage to the vessel.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry also emphasized that the attack is a terrorist act, representing a further escalation of new tension in attacks carried out by organized militia groups against Yemen’s interests, installations, ports, and vital supply arteries for this country. It said the attack poses a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and international trade.
