🔻 «10» defendants in the Esfahan Martyrs Square case have been sentenced to «execution»
Mehdi Mahmoodian, a former political prisoner and human rights activist, says that «10 people» among the defendants in the so-called Esfahan Martyrs Square case were sentenced to «execution» in the court of first instance.
The case is connected to last year’s nationwide protests in the month of Dey and has 16 defendants.
Human rights activists and lawyers had previously warned that there are many problems and ambiguities in this case, and that the defendants were tortured.
Judicial and security authorities in Iran, however, claim that the defendants, in a «shoe store», made «Molotov cocktails». The case also involves the killing of two people, including a senior officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, but this is not directly attributed to the defendants, and the court has not presented any evidence in this regard.
